Italian 

Wordland Language Programs are scaled from 1 to 6. Their reference to functional levels , as well as their correspondence to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages are explained under each program.

 

Italian Language Programs

Italian Made Simple
Simple Conversation and Basic Efficiency - CEFRL A1-A2
Vocabulary Contents: Exchange names. Recognize and use the Italian alphabet to spell Italian words. Engage in and demonstrate an understanding of spoken/written introductory conversations. Recognize spoken numbers. Use numbers to exchange telephone numbers. Present basic introductions. Provide and obtain information about your self and others. Present a biographical sketch including physical and personality attributes. Engage in conversations about leisure time activities and describe basic clothing and colors. Exchange basic information about family and pets.

Grammar Contents: Accents (and Italian diacritical marks). Formal vs. informal language standards. Definite and indefinite articles (number/gender). Singular and plural of nouns. Telling time. Question words and question formation. Numbers. Adjective agreement. Date/address format. Present tense of verbs. Possessive adjectives. Adjective agreement and placement. Prepositions of location. Direct object pronouns. Irregular verbs. Question words and question formation.
Goal: Quick fluency in your everyday communication in Italian.

Italian Is My Friend
Basic Efficiency and Operational Level - CEFRL B1
Vocabulary contents: Present information about family members and relationships. Exchange, demonstrate an understanding of, and present information about homes, rooms, and basic furnishings. Exchange, demonstrate an understanding of, and present information about food preferences, food groups, and eating customs. Exchange, interpret, and present information about places, activities, and means of transportation in the community. Ask and answer questions about travel plans and destination. Demonstrate an understanding of schedules and tickets of different means of transportation. Exchange information on past and future travel activities. Exchange, interpret, and describe information about occupations. Ask or give simple directions to specified locations, including specialty stores. Exchange and present information about personal preferences for style and design of clothing for specific occasions. Request sales assistance and state preferences for purchases.

Grammar Contents: Past tense. Constructions of two or more verbs. Verbs requiring a preposition before an infinitive. Direct and indirect object pronouns. Imperfect. Negative expressions. Affirmative and negative commands. Use of time, place, and modality adverbs. The future tense. Referring to past experiences from the present perspective. Using the interrogative pronouns. Using sentence markers and connectors.
Goal: Correct the oftentimes creative use of acquired grammar structures and vocabulary.

Italian Is My Partner
Operational Level - CEFRL B1-B2
Vocabulary contents: The Office: basic concepts (Company/Organization, Job Descriptions, Confidentiality of Information, Employee Handbook), Management Strategies (Relationship to Peers and Subordinates), Internal & External Communication (Company Memos and Reports, Powers of Attorney, Handling Efficiently Faxes, Letters, and Emails, Contracts and Contract Types), Organizing Events (Meetings with Clients, Booking Flights, Hotels, Restaurants), Office Supplies (Handling Office Equipment, Relationship with Suppliers), Basic Accounting (Expense Reimbursements and Vouchers, Budgeting), Business Etiquette.

Grammar Contents: Revision of already acquired grammar and vocabulary structures and items. Specialization of the uses of the verbs on the time axis. More prepositions and conjunctions. Sentence types corresponding to cause, effect, consequence, condition, and purpose.
Goal: Better communication skills with Italian business partners or management.
